Our Summer routine is developing just as I hoped. No alarm clocks set (except our dogs internal clocks that start around 6:00 am needing to go outside), lounging around in the morning at a slow pace, and the kids not brushing their teeth until 10:00 or 11:00 (I’m trying too not let that happen to often). However, one thing the kiddos don’t miss out on each day and that is their suits on and a good swim in the pool. It has been very hot lately so in the late afternoon the boys are dripping in sweat and begging to jump in. Even Jasmine is getting more comfortable being in the water. She is exploring, splashing with her hands and kicking her little legs like a frog! It’s my favorite part of the day. Hearing their laughter and seeing the kiddos having no worries!
Our evenings are nice and quiet since the kids get worn out from the sun and water. We like to snuggle on the couch, watch a movie, and read books. The best part is we get to end the night and do it all over again tomorrow! Another thing we have added to our “unstructured schedule” is jump roping. We like to go outside early before it gets too hot and have a few contests. It always ends with us eating popsicles in the shade.
These are the days! The days are long, but the years are short. That saying couldn’t be any truer!
One thing I need to master is a better Summer menu. With our late afternoon swims I find I need to have dinner prepped and ready to go quickly after we are out of the pool, rinsed off, and dry. The boys are always hungry immediately after. I love the fresh Summer fruit for snacks and with our meals, but just need to scroll Pinterest for easy, healthy, and quick meals.
