Weekend Overview

Now that Jonathan is back in school the weekend just does not seem long enough! We definitely need longer than two days, but it is what it is and we will cherish all the time together that we can get.

Jonathan started soccer again and is now playing in a competitive league. Practices are longer, the games are a bit further away, and they are playing to win! He had his first game on Saturday which we had to be ready and in the car by 8:15 am! For a Saturday that was a stretch plus my husband had to work so I was solo with the kids on this trip. Jonathan played great and I love the effort he gives each game. He scored one goal that I missed because Jordan needed to go to the bathroom. His team tied 4 to 4 so they were able to gain a point (which matters at the end of the season). There was a huge oak tree in the corner of the field that provided lots of shade so Jasmine and Jordan played in the grass under the shade which was so nice!

After the game on Saturday, everyone was wiped out from the early morning and heat. We had a quiet afternoon and were patiently waiting for Dad to walk through the door. As soon as the kiddos hear the door open they run as fast as they can and pretty much tackle their Dad! Jasmine is so cute now and greets him by screaming at the top of her lungs, “Dada!” We all think it is adorable. Sunday was another relaxing day. I had a few errands to complete to get ready for the busy week ahead. We have a ton going on this week with appointments for the kiddos, soccer practice and two games during the week.

On another note, I can totally feel Fall in the air and am loving it! I hope you have a great week.

Fresh Air

It’s no secret that we LOVE to be outside, but recently we have had several days in a row that our air quality has been deemed unhealthy due to surrounding wildfires in our area. The smoke has certainly put our normal routine of spending as much time outdoors to a halt. However, the smoke has cleared (for now at least) and we couldn’t get our shoes on fast enough to head outside! With Jonathan back to school we normally walk him and Jasmine and Jordan will ride in the stroller. Jordan especially loves to walk/stroll his brother to school, secretly hoping one of these times he can just go with Jonathan. After we dropped Jonathan off and walked back home I set Jordan’s favorite activity up outside, painting!

He really is in his element when he gets to paint, color, and be creative. One day he made 23 paper bag puppets! They were adorable and he said he needed to make one for everybody he knew (which he doesn’t even know 23 people, but I wasn’t going to stop him).

So I set up his painting station, bringing his table and chair outside and we enjoyed the fresh air. Jasmine was inside napping with Dad. Jordan enjoyed the scenic view and requested we do this every day!

Anything we can do while being outside is such a win. The kiddos get their energy out, if a spill happens it is easy to grab the hose and wash it down, and the sun just makes you feel good. We are so thankful to have clear skies and will continue to think positive thoughts for everyone affected by the fires and our brave firefighters for saving lives!

I hope you have a wonderful week and get to enjoy some fresh air!

Soaking up Summer

The calendar still says it is officially Summer but Jonathan will be returning back to school Monday morning. Our Summer flew by, but we created unforgettable memories that we will cherish and get to look back on. We crossed off many things from our Summer Bucket List and anything we didn’t get to we will table for next Summer. I asked the boys what their favorite part of Summer was this year and it was a unanimous decision, Disneyland! It was definitely the highlight of their Summer. I thoroughly enjoyed Disneyland as well, but I have enjoyed being able to watch the boys swim daily,  lazy afternoons, and playing outside in the evenings.

This weekend will include swimming, fort making, and late nights outside before we are back to the hustle and bustle of scheduled routines, bedtimes, homework, and soccer. As much as I wish I could hang on to this Summer and make it last forever it is nice to know that Fall will be present soon, which is my favorite time of the year. I love our weather, the changing leaves, pumpkins and of course Halloween! However, I am going to stay in the moment and enjoy the weekend with my boy before he is a big third grader!!!

What are your last days of Summer looking like? Happy Friday!!!
