Yay, Friday here we come! This past week was pretty busy, Jasmine had her 6 month check up and got shots, Jordan is still under the weather a bit, and Jonathan has been extremely busy with school. We also got our first real snow this week so that always makes things seem a bit harder when having to be out and about with drop offs and pickups.
Jasmine cut her first tooth this week (on the bottom) and I can’t believe how quickly that happened! She has been chewing on everything lately so it doesn’t surprise me too much. Jordan has been calling her chubby bear and I can’t get enough of her new nickname.
We are heading into the weekend with cupcakes or happy cakes as Jordan likes to call them and not looking back! In the Fall we would have a Friday movie night planned and I think we are going to try to establish that again moving forward. The boys seemed to always look forward to it. It’s a nice way to kick off the weekend. What are your Friday night rituals with your kiddos?
I hope you have a warm and safe weekend!
This past weekend was relaxing and mellow. We were recovering from Jonathan’s return to school the week prior and having to be organized, on routine, and dressed by 9:15 am. Also, both Jordan and Jasmine have had colds with pretty bad coughs, which has made for some miserable nights. Jasmine is also cutting two new bottom teeth which has been double challenging, but bless her heart she just keeps smiling!
The boys created a city where they gather all their blocks (mega and wooden blocks), Legos, Lincoln logs, train tracks, magnetic blocks (which was a gift for Christmas from family and they absolutely love), and knex and make an entire city. They really come up with such amazing ideas and it keeps them entertained for at least a few hours.
We ended our weekend by making some homemade chicken noodle soup hoping to get everyone feeling better and on the right track for the busy week ahead. There is nothing better than good comfort food when not feeling well. My mom would always make us Lipton chicken noodle soup with extra noodles whenever we were sick growing up.
Hope you all have a great week!!
Our sweet Jasmine is 6 months old! I can’t believe how quickly this time around is going. Here are a few stats, milestones, and her current favorite toys.
Stats: She weighs 16 lbs and is 26 in long. She is wearing 6-9 month clothes.
Milestones and Daily Schedule: She says Da-Da, can roll over when she is laying on her stomach to her back. She is scooting all over the place. I will place her on her belly and soon enough she has scooted several feet. She has been slowly starting solid foods. She loves peaches, carrots, and bananas. She does NOT like peas! I am still breastfeeding and she nurses every 3 hours or so. She generally is asleep anywhere from 7:45-8:30 pm. She still wakes up about two times per night. Her wake up times vary throughout the night, it could be 1:30 am and 4:30 am. She giggles and smiles at her brothers all day long. She loves to look at her Daddy and follow his movements with her eyes. She buries her face into my shoulder now and I absolutely love it! She enjoys baths and loves music.
Favorite Toys: She loves all teethers right now. Her favorites are this wood teether and this comotomo silicone teether. She loves this Peek-A-Boo Forest Book, the crinkly texture she enjoys. These toy beads and her baby doll Stella. She also, loves being in her activity stander (we have older version). She is content for a much longer duration then our boys were in the stander.
We are so blessed to have you Jasmine and can’t wait to see all the milestones you will accomplish in the next days, months, and years! Happy six months, we love you to pieces!!!
It was raining off and on today making our playtime completely indoors. For the most part the boys are able to find things to keep themselves entertained with, but there are times where they need some extra guidance or suggestions. Today I suggested that they play with these puppets that Jordan got for Christmas from his Grandpa. He didn’t quite understand what to do with them when he first got them and then they sat for a few weeks. It was so adorable how Jonathan initiated the Puppet Show and the two of them took off running with it. They would introduce themselves and then started telling Knock Knock jokes that were priceless. Please, if you haven’t heard a three year old try to one up his older brother with Knock Knock jokes, you must! Long story short it was hilarious!
Race Car Fast Track / Tic Tac Toe Game (old from The Land of Nod) / Map Book / Guitar
I think the Puppet Show will be sticking around for awhile and I love the creativity that it has sparked between the kiddos. They had to work together, be active listeners, and think outside the box.
I would love to hear what types of imaginary play or indoor activities your kiddos are up to.
The weekdays and weekends have been blending together since Jonathan is still on Winter Break. It has been so nice to have him home and not be on such a regimented schedule. Also, we have been having such beautiful weather here on the West Coast. Our sunrises have been lovely! My prayers are with those in the East Coast experiencing such brutal conditions right now.
We started our Sunday with some fresh carrot, apple, and spinach juice! Jordan absolutely loves our carrot juice while Jonathan is not a fan, but drinks it. I love to juice and try to make fresh juice every couple of days. It’s such a good feeling knowing the kiddos are drinking their fruits and veggies.
We followed our healthy carrot juice with some yummy not so healthy pancakes 😉
We have been taking walks lately to get the boys some fresh air and tire them out since they can get a bit rambunctious being cooped up in the house. However, they have refused to get dressed, which I am totally ok with (less laundry for me!!).
Jonathan has one more week left of his Winter Break so we will be taking advantage of the lazy mornings and relaxed afternoons. Jonathan and I are currently reading Wonder and maybe we can sneak away this week to go watch the movie. The book is so good so far!
If your kiddos are still on Winter Break what are you planning for this week? And if your kiddos have to go back to school I hope your coffee supply is fully stocked!!! Have a great week!
As we are entering a New Year I can’t help but feel so incredibly blessed for all of the wonderful events that took place in 2017. We added a new baby girl to our family, our two boys are growing and developing into such unique individuals, milestones are being met with all three of our kiddos and we are taking notice! I try to remind myself to cherish every minute with my family. The days can be so long, but the years are flying by and I wish I could hit the pause button. I created this movie below with our family highlights from 2017. It’s a bit lengthy because I had a hard time deciding so I basically added everything! I tear up every time I watch it because life is so precious and going way to quickly.
I love New Year’s because well it is a New Year and new means a fresh start, new goals, new aspirations and dreams! I have so many goals I would love to accomplish or challenge myself with. I want to be the best wife and mother I can be. I hope to show my husband how much I appreciate him. I want to laugh and play more with my kiddos. I want to start a consistent workout plan and eat healthier. I want to do more acts of kindness. I want to read more. I want to take a cooking course or photography class something that puts me slightly out of my comfort zone. I want to take more walks and get outdoors a bit more. I know realistically that all of these wants will not happen over night, but I’m going to hold myself accountable as much as possible. Writing things down and staying organized are huge in achieving my goals. A good planner is a must!
Our New Year’s Eve plans consist of eating yummy food, playing games, and trying to stay up as late as possible. We have so much to look forward to heading into 2018.
I hope you all have a blessed, fun filled, and safe New Year’s, Cheers!!!!
Christmas was magical this year for our family. The kiddos enjoyed every minute and we wish we could hit the rewind button and do it all over. Jonathan couldn’t sleep on Christmas Eve and kept asking if he could go downstairs to get something to eat at 10:30 pm (to see if Santa came or not). Santa definitely arrived! The boys were up at 5:00 am, but we didn’t start opening presents until 5:45 am. The kiddos were so grateful for all of their presents. We had a fun filled morning of taking toys out of their packages, finding batteries, and then the cleanup of course!
Jonathan got tons of little legos (which he is currently obsessed with), Jordan a play vacuum and race car track set, and Jasmine teethers and the cutest, softest baby doll from her Mimi. Another gift that was a hit is play costumes. This year the boys got firefighter costumes and played in them all day!
We had ham, mashed potatoes, carrots, and rolls for Christmas dinner. My hard working husband had to work Christmas Day so we waited for his arrival and enjoyed a beautiful meal together. Gathering around the dinner table and enjoying one another’s company are things I love most about the Holidays.
We plan on savoring the next few days and leaving our Christmas tree on all day before we head into the New Year. I hope your Christmas was pure magic and joy!
Christmas Eve is finally here!!! We are beyond excited. We started our morning with a little workout per the boys request. Jonathan ran on the treadmill and Jordan and I did jumping jacks, push-ups, and sit-ups. We worked up such an appetite that I made some festive pancakes. Jasmine worked up an appetite by watching all the activity around her!
Growing up my sister and I would plan our entire day out on Christmas Eve. It looked something like this…
7:00 am- Wake up
7:30 am- Eat Breakfast
8:00 am – Watch Cartoons
8:30 am – Brush our teeth
8:35 am- Get dressed
8:45 am- Pick up our bedroom
8:55 am – Workout
You get the picture, we had a very detailed itinerary! Childhood memories like this is what makes Christmas time so magical and now experiencing Christmas with my children I hope they can create their own special Christmas traditions among themselves.
We ended our day by making Santa some cookies and reading The Christmas Story pop-up book that their Mimi (Grandma) got them. They were in aw of this special book and it will be read many times!
Merry Christmas Eve from my family to yours!
