We are getting ready to wrap up Jonathan’s school year, he only has two more weeks of distance learning and warm weather is upon us, 80 degrees by the end of this week so I feel that Summer is definitely in reach. Even in the midst of the “new normal”, I am still optimistic that we can create an amazing, fun-filled Summer here at home. The kiddos overall have been amazing during this time. They understand that we can’t go to places and have people over. They sure do amaze me with their resilience which I admire greatly. I know they are missing out on things that they enjoy (soccer camps, friends coming over, going to fun places around our city) so its operation, try to make it the best Summer possible! I hope the kid’s memory of this strange time will just be remembered of all the fun things we did together. No matter the location just being together, supporting one another, and what’s the saying, when life gives you lemons make lemonade so lemonade we shall make!
One thing I love to do for inspiration is to look through saved magazines for new, refreshing meal ideas. Martha has always been my go-to. The theme for our Summer menu will be bbq everything! I also like Chrissy Teigen and got the mini pizza on English muffins from her. I added small tomatoes and Parmesan cheese on mine, but the kids love pizza so any new ways to present pizza to them is a total win! And her advice on toasting the English muffins before adding the toppings is a must! Game changer on the crispiness of the muffin.
The kids love to paint and do crafts so there has been lots of art inspiration happening and we will continue the art projects outside throughout the Summer. When Jonathan is on his class zoom calls, Jasmine is normally painting at the table, and Jordan has been practicing his sight words and reading these Bob books! He is doing so well and we are so proud of him. I am currently reading The Scent Keeper and it is so good! What’s on your reading Summer list this year?

Hello friends! How is everyone doing? These are crazy times, but we have tried to maintain some normalcy by continuing to do things that we would normally do during this time of year. We planted some flowers the other weekend and got the pool up which was a great deal of work, but well worth it. The kiddos haven’t swum yet because it’s just a bit too chilly still. Our backyard is slowly coming together and I’m so happy about it so the kids can have a great time getting their energy out and it’s the only place we will be going for a while.
We have had our shares of ups and downs through all of this quarantine time. From struggling with distance learning school, bad haircuts (but good intentions), and just the new reality of the current situation. Our region is slowly starting to open up and honestly I have mixed feelings about it. My heart goes out to people who have been out of work and struggling to just eat their next meal. I am hopeful though that with proper precautions that we can slowly get things moving again, but in a much different way. It’s so tricky right now to navigate certain situations but I do think it’s possible when things have been feeling impossible lately. Everything just needs a bit more thought, attention, love, kindness, respect, and understanding.
With the warmer weather approaching it makes me very excited for all the yummy fruit and vegetables that will be in season. Summer fruit is so refreshing and I can’t wait to eat cold, sweet watermelon on our hot summer days. What’s your favorite Summer fruit or vegetable?
Every Summer the kids love to blow bubbles in the yard so I ordered these little bubble makers which are perfect and work pretty well for the price. Jasmine loves bubbles and it’s a great activity for her outside. The boys have no problem jumping right in with her and joining the fun! I foresee lots of bubbles and bbq’s this Summer!

Hello friends! How is everyone doing with everything? If I am being honest my emotional state fluctuates quite a bit throughout the day. This “new normal” is a bit overwhelming at times. I absolutely love having my kids home all the time, but they miss their schools, teachers, and friends. Jonathan is heading into his third week of distance learning. He has zoom calls every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with his entire class and teacher. His school has been very supportive and resourceful during this time. Also, my husband is in the healthcare field and every time he leaves for work I feel he is going to war to some degree. I am so appreciative of him along with all the other healthcare workers, grocery store workers, delivery people and people who are literally keeping us afloat in these uncertain times. They are the true MVP’s and I am beyond grateful for them all!
So with Easter this weekend we are trying to be as festive as possible. We made cupcakes the other day and this year the kids painted eggs. We also put together some Easter baskets for a few of our neighbors that we will leave outside their door on Easter morning. The other evening we had some outside chalk and hand soap left outside our front door and that small act of kindness was so thoughtful that we wanted to return the feeling. The little things will go along way right now and we are trying to do our part.
On another note we have been keeping busy by doing puzzles, playing games, and watching movies. I have also been reading. I can’t wait to start The Giver of Stars. We are looking forward to warm weather so we can be outside more. We have had winter like weather for these past three weeks so we are craving sunshine!
All in all we are taking it day by day and praying for the best.

Happy almost Spring! With the seasons changing, losing an hour of sleep, and all the sickness happening everywhere I wanted to share a few things that we have been doing to keep ourselves healthy and just promote overall wellness. Our health is something that we should never be afraid to invest in. If we don’t feel well it hinders so many things and quite frankly makes everything miserable.
So it’s no secret we can help reduce our chances of getting sick by simply washing our hands with soap before we eat, cough, sneeze, touch something that has been touched by multiple people etc. Also, using warm water and washing for at least 25 seconds. I know it may feel like a long time, but it will be worth it in the long run. When I pick up the kids from school or soccer practice we this thieves waterless hand sanitizer. Avoid touching your face. Also, taking vitamins helps. We take a multivitamin and vitamin C daily. You can also boost your immune system by eating fruits and green vegetables. We made some carrot, spinach, apple, and ginger juice the other morning and it tastes so good and knowing that it is full of nutrients makes me feel good. All the kids drink a small glass (even though I have some push back from Jonathan he manages to get it in his body). Staying hydrated, drink lots of water. Exercising is another essential key to your overall wellness. So walking the kids to school with the warmer weather coming or last night at Jonathan’s soccer practice I decided to jog a few laps around the park and then watch his practice. Making the most of my time when running around with the kids is how I am able to get a workout in. I just feel my best when I am active so I try to make that a priority.
Lastly, we have been utilizing essential oils for many things such as supporting sleep, diffusing thieves and frankincense. It smells so good and my go to blend stress away and orange is so good! Essential oils are great for emotional support too. Making roller blends that have 10 drops frankincense, 5 drops thieves, and 5 drops lemon. Oregano can be added also to this roller if you have it on hand and topping it off with a fractunated carrier oil. We roll this on our spines and feet each morning and before bed. Making sure our bodies get the adequate hours of sleep will help to ensure wellness. If the kids feel run down I will not hesitate to keep them home from school. Also, adjusting their bedtimes if they had a long day or just not feeling well. I spray the kids bed with a lavender spray before bed and it is so dreamy. Basically, we need good rest to keep our energy going and be prepared for whatever the day may bring.
I love switching gears by turning on the diffuser with some lavender and peace and calming and reading before bed. I am currently reading Little Fires Everywhere and am enjoying it.

Hello friends! It’s Valentine’s this week so we are making heart-shaped everything, pulling out the heart garland, completing Valentines’s boxes for school and making sure to spread all the love with one another. With life being filled with highs and lows and so much busyness I love Valentine’s day as a reminder to grab your loved ones and hold them tight and tell them how much you love them. Spreading love, smiling at strangers, holding the door for someone, and just doing small acts of kindness are a few things that we are doing to make this week extra special. In the end, all we need is love!
So I recently jumped on the essential oil train and am so glad that I did. They have really made a difference in the sleep support that I was looking for with the kiddos. I have also, made some really fun roller blends (immune support, relaxation blend, and glow serums are just to name a few). Also, I have ditched all my candles and am diffusing oils instead. It has been so nice to play around with different scents. I am still dipping my toes in the oil world, but am loving the endless possibilities. Below is a linen spray I made using 10 drops peace and calming and 5 drops of lavender essential oil, a splash of witch hazel, and topped off with water. I spray this on the kiddos blankets, pillows, and sheets before bed. It is so dreamy and I’m obsessed so far.

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and celebrated the New Year with friends and family. I am still wrapping my head around the fact that the Holidays have come and gone and that we are living in 2020! I always like to reflect on the past year and set new goals for the upcoming year. However, I realized I don’t necessarily have any new goals I just want to continue my current goals. Lots of laughing, loving, reading, exercising and trying to be the best version of myself. I am very optimistic about this year and am looking forward to seeing what it has in store for us.
